Ap u bao lau (?)
Mot bai tho nhu mi
(khong phai mot cai banh mi)
Rot cuoc
Go chua het cau lanh
Lai veo, quanh qua chui
Thi-Pheo cua the thoi
Hu hu, chinh la toi!
“Con sau rau xa hoi”
“Con cho ghe mo coi”
“Ten khon nan het thoi”
“Thu nghiet yeu pha doi”
Xin nhan het ve toi!

And then, I failed again.
I’d been nursing for so long (?)
a gentle little poem
(not a banh mi).
In the end,
before I could finish even a single kind line,
I veered off - started cursing again.
The Thi-Pheo of this age,
boo-hoo, that’s me!
“A pest that rots society”
“A mangy orphaned cur”
“A bastard past his time”
“A cursed demon who ruins the world.”
I’ll take them all upon myself!
