道不能与人疏离;这是小道,是人性的一部分,是人在这无限小的世界中环绕和包容的部分,在人之内创造出额外的人性。但有些人想修习道,却又想与人疏离;因此,他们无法修习大道。人(人性)存在于“人性”的固有本性之中,这是最初的德性,是爱与理解天地之源。

因此,人不应与万物疏离,而应与万物融合,成为一体,从而获得对这无限小的世界的爱与理解(就像如今的城乡,人们只生活在人性的一部分与人性的一部分之间)。这是人内在的教育原则,它以万物为师,以万物为师,教育人直至成为动物之子。正如我们精炼“言语”,直至它们成为“优美的言语和深刻的思想”。

孟子指出,要成为“概念之人”,即小我,需要遵循四项准则:

慈悲属于仁爱。

羞耻属于正义。

The Way cannot distance itself from Man; this is the Small Way, the Human part, the surrounding and encompassing part of Man in the infinitely small world, creating an additional Human part within Man. But some people want to practice the Way yet distance themselves from Man; thus, they cannot practice the Great Way. Man (Humanity) is within the inherent nature of "Humanity," this is the original virtue, the source of love and understanding of Heaven and Earth.

Therefore, Man should not distance himself from all things, but should blend with all things to become One, to obtain the love and understanding of the infinitely small world (like cities and villages today, where people only live in half, between the Human part and the Human part). This is the inherent principle in Man to educate him, using all things to supplement him, and considering all things as his teacher, educating him until he becomes a Child within the Animal. Just as we refine our "Words," refining them until they become "Beautiful Words and Meaningful Thoughts."

Mencius pointed out that to become a Man of "Conceptual Being," that is, a small Man, one needs to uphold four standards:

Compassion belongs to Benevolence.
Shame belongs to Righteousness.
Humility belongs to Etiquette.

A discerning mind belongs to Wisdom.

Buddhism implies a "Golden Heart" to guide oneself and discover the Great Man within oneself.
