Tất cả Mùi được nhận biết qua Khứu Giác chính là Thức thứ 4 (ở bên ngoài Đại Thể) trong Phật Giáo. Bao gồm 9 loại với hương thơm, hôi thối và mùi tự nhiên hay mùi trung hòa, hài hòa.
Bốn loại hương thơm tồn tại từ ngàn xưa: hương thơm của Phật, hương thơm của Tôn Giáo, hương thơm của yêu thương và sự hiểu biết, hương thơm của từ bi và hỷ xả.
Mùi thứ 5 là hương thơm tự nhiên của hoa cỏ, cây cối, suối nước trong vắt, của núi đồi và đất đá...etc, mang tính trung hòa, hài hòa và cân bằng.
Bốn loại hôi thối: bắt nguồn từ sự Vô Minh (chỉ trạng thái u mê, thiếu hiểu biết), Tham (ham muốn), Sân (giận giữ), Si (ngu muội).
Phật Giáo định nghĩa tất cả Chúng Sanh đều thuộc về 9 Thức: Thị Giác, Thính Giác, Vị Giác, Khứu Giác, Xúc Giác, Trực Giác, Nghiệp, Suy Nghĩ, và Chủng Tử.
Với 3 Thức ở bên trong Đại Thể: Nghiệp (bao gồm tất cả nguồn năng lượng, tần số và sự rung động hay chứa đựng tất cả kiếp sống), Suy Nghĩ (đơn vị nhỏ nhất của Tư Tưởng (Thiên Đạo và Địa Đạo), và Chủng Tử (thuộc Đại Nhân), (Ánh sáng xanh Thuần Khiết và Thanh Tịnh, Tinh Hoa).
Và 6 Thức ở bên ngoài Đại Thể: Thị Giác, Thính Giác, Vị Giác, Khứu Giác, Xúc Giác, và Trực Giác.

What is the Truth About Smell?
All smells perceived through the sense of smell are the fourth consciousness (outside Great Body) in Buddhism. This includes 9 types: pleasant, foul, and natural or neutral/harmonious smells.
Four types of pleasant smells have existed since ancient times: the scent of Buddha, the scent of religion, the scent of love and understanding, and the scent of compassion and generosity.
The fifth type is the natural scent of flowers, plants, clear streams, mountains, and rocks, etc., which is neutral, harmonious, and balanced.
The four types of foul smells originate from ignorance (a state of delusion and lack of understanding), greed, anger, and delusion.
Buddhism defines all sentient beings as belonging to the 9 consciousnesses: Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell, Touch, Intuition, Karma, Thought, and Green Seed.
With 3 Consciousnesses inside the Great Body: Karma (including all energy sources, frequencies, and vibrations, or containing all lifetimes), Thought (the smallest unit of Mind (Heavenly and Earthly Paths), and Green Seed (belonging to the Great Man), (Pure and Purity Green Light, Essence).
And 6 Consciousnesses outside the Great Body: Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell, Touch, Intuition.
